Why we built Maindex
AI systems are great for reasoning, but they make terrible databases. In a world where LLM context and attention are highly valuable resources, we needed a stable, long-term memory system built for AIs and their humans.
Maindex exists to make memory a reliable primitive for agentic software, not an afterthought.
We needed data portability across every platform to free our important data and make it useful on every platform we use.
We are building a durable memory layer that feels natural to developers, useful to humans, and dependable in production.
What Maindex is
Maindex is a relational memory platform for agents and applications. It combines structured records, links between concepts, and searchable history so context can be retrieved when it matters.
Built for teams, not just individuals
A memory layer that only one person can use isn't infrastructure. It's a notebook. Teams lets a group share collections their agents read and write through the same MCP connection they already use, with role-based access, agentic review on team writes, and an audit trail. The boundary between team memory and personal memory is architectural, not a policy.
Who we serve
We serve teams building software with AI agents, developers shipping agentic products, and organizations that need context to survive across tools, sessions, and people. If more than one person on your team is working with an agent, and those agents should agree on the facts, Maindex is built for you.
How it fits with your tools
Maindex is not a replacement for tools like Notion; they are complementary. Notion is where you organize work. Maindex is where your agents remember. Connect both via MCP and let your LLM bridge the two: pull project context from Notion into agent memory, or surface Maindex knowledge back into your workspace. Two tools, one agent, bidirectional flow.
Your data, portable by default
Export everything you have stored -- memories, links, collections, revision history -- at any time. Import it into a new account or keep a local backup. No walled garden, no gilded cage. Your thoughts, ideas, and knowledge belong to you.
